If ClickUp’s built-in calculations can’t meet your calculation needs, this automation might be able to help.

It can use data on the triggering task, but also any other task in ClickUp, as long as there is a rule to find it.

Any data type can be processed: numbers/currency, text, dates, etc, and the output can be in any of ClickUp’s field types.

 

It works in 1 of 2 ways:

Option 1: Linear formulas

• The automation takes data from the triggering task, plus any other tasks in ClickUp, calculates them, and outputs into a custom field.
• The calculation / processing must be able to be described in one equation (although it can be very complex)

Option 2: Iterative Calculations

• For some calculations (such as interest or principle calculations, commonly used with loans), the calculation must be repeated over and over, each time using the values form the last, to get the outcome.
• Many functions like this have already been solved by spreadsheets, so we link in a google sheet to be the engine, then process and output the data, as in Option 1.

 

Requires Customisation

Because what everyone will be calculating is different, we’ll need to customise this automation to your specific needs.
Therefore a template-only version is not available, as it would not be valuable.
